children’s EYECARE
Eye examinations are vey important for children to ensure their eyes are developing normally, especially between the ages of 3 to 7.
Both vision and eye health need to be monitored as children often do not know, or say, that they have a problem.
Potential vision related problems can often show in a child’s behaviour, this can include sitting too close to the TV or computer, rubbing their eyes a lot, holding objects very close to their face and / or blinking a lot.
It is advisable for kids to have their eyes tested regularly starting from the age of 3 or 4 (depending on the child's ability).
Children under the age of 16 get free eye examinations and glasses if needed, provided by the NHS. Children aged 16 - 18 in full time education will also get a free eye examination and the option of free glasses if needed or help towards the cost of a pair of their choosing.
We have a wide selection of frames for children and young adults to choose from if they do need glasses. Please book an appointment to see our optician for a child’s eye examination, or bring your NHS voucher if your child has been tested and prescribed glasses at a eye specialist hospital.
